Week 30 - Difficult times up north

Intro walk at Kengis Bruk

Last week we had a visit from new friends to the Kengis family.

Only Peter had been at Kengis before and what a pleasure to see him back after 6 years.

Peter, Chuck, Scott, Kristian and Oscar had difficult conditions facing them in a warm period up north in Sweden.

They switched around day and night and fished all night and slept all day. Only thing to do in warm periods.

It was days with a lot of activity from running fish and you were sure to see fish in the move every time you fished a zone. But they were difficult to get to strike the flies.

Within the first 24 hrs. Peter and Chuck had a few takes and lost a grilse, so there were hopes for at least some action during the week.

Scott was new to the scandi style of fishing, but it did not take him long time to adapt and he went home with many new skills in the bag.

Despite the tough conditions our guests had small nips and takes every day fishing, but it was really difficult to get a proper strike.

Kristian and Oscar came to visit Kengis for the first time. Two young fishing addicts coming from a trip even further north in Norway, fishing a week in Kengis on the way back to Denmark. Such an inspiration to meet two young guys that just love to fish.

They fished hard and in the end Oscar lost a big fish and landed a grilse. Great work from the guys and we hope to see you back again soon.

Did you know that in Denmark you can choose a sort of boarding school focusing on fishing?

Oscar and Kristian met at this school and now they are fishing all over the north of Scandinavia. Fishing really brings people together.

Can you spot them?

A week with good friends and river dinner all together is a week we will remember.

Thank you for visiting Kengis Bruk.

Tight lines!
