Week 31 - Making new friends

This week we had a full group of new friends visiting Kengis Bruk.

Daniel, Daniel, Lukasz, Mateuz & Sami.

Facing another difficult week with the summer rolling in over the northern part of Sweden it was clear that nighttime fishing was the key to success.

Our new friends quickly found out about the Kengis feeling. And what is Kengis feeling?

Well…. Some things can be hard to describe, but imagine this; Doing what you really like, together with your friends at a place where you can fish 24/7 if you want, walk around to the fishing places, stay at a cozy lodge and in general forget about time and place (almost, because you have to remember you are at Kengis Bruk) And on top of that meet new friends. That is Kengis feeling.

A place with a special feeling where you create memories.

And of course have the chance of landing a big baltic salmon.

Daniel was on the last minute flight with his other friends, but luckily he made it to Kengis last week. And we are sure he was happy with his decision. Two landed fish in a difficult week is great.

Since mid July we’ve seen a push och smaller fish rising in our river system. They’ve been splashing about and it’s been a joy to watch. Two weeks ago the first one was reeled into shore, a fresh little 55cm.

We are very happy to see this size of fish showing in these numbers. It doesn’t only show good possibilities for next years middle sized fish but also indicates a healthier river system and more diverse population in the Baltic Sea.

Daniel even got to fight one of the big ones, but sadly lost it after an intense fight.

Sami from Finland took some alone time and came for a week in his right element. Thank you for choosing us as your getaway Sami.

He fished hard, put in the hours, but it was a challenge.

“I'm done Ville, I am done” Then you know your guests gave all they had.

Sometimes in periods like these you can as a guide stand back with a feeling that you “own” your guests a fish, but at the same time, we can't control nature.

That is the gamble booking a trip 6 months before or maybe a year. We never know how the week turns out.

Last week was a good week! Fish on land, lost fish and great company. Hard to ask for more.

Thank you so much guys, hope to see you next year.

Tight lines.
