Week 29 - Costa del Kengis

Intro with the new group

As you might already guessed, a warm week at Kengis Bruk.

Plenty of action, but no landed fish, so are you here to read about catches check in again next week for hopefully better news, BUT do you like Kengis feeling, plenty of action and good stories keep on reading.

This week we welcomed a new group to Kengis Bruk. It did not take long until we had five new members in the Kengis family.

Antti, Rami, Tervho, Hannu & Jussi had a great week, fighted many fish and had a great time.

Overall the group lost more than 15 fish. The strikes were gentle and fishing difficult pools made it harder to land fish.

It was a week with casting training, night fishing, huge smiles and one almost ended his salmon career.

Fishing in warm conditions will always be difficult, but despite that the group did super good.

And now to the story about Hannu almost ending his salmon career.

When you make a deal with yourself and the family that you will stop salmonfishing, landing a 125cm salmon and you feel that strike like you have never felt before.

And short time into the fight you see the fish jump, and you realize how big the fish is and you might even question your own deal with yourself and a big fish.

What would you do? Catch a big fish and never fish again?

This big baltic salmon went around a stone and the leader broke. Maybe the story was already told, but we never know.

Hannu lost his fish of a lifetime and can continue the hunt for big fish.

And he said: “ I am not even disappointed. That is life and to fight a fish like that you have to respect nature and now I can continue fishing. And I don't know what else to do, if I stop fishing”

It is a pleasure meeting new friends and getting them into the Kengis feeling. To see them leave Kengis and smiling after a difficult week tells a lot about our new friends.

Tight lines.
