Week 27 - Smiles & Salmon

This week we were welcoming back our friends from the past year.

Another great week with great people, big smiles, good food and great fishing.

For you guys following the blog you know that last blog was a little about the average size of the fish we have caught so far this season and this week kept us on that track.

Tommy, Janne, Chance, Oscar, Waldemar and Jiho fished hard all last week and for some of them it paid off.

Tommy had a great week and he was the first to hook into a (in this year) a smaller fish at 79cm. Great start for Tommy and he was ready for what the week would bring to him.

At the very end of our fishing water he landed the fish fishing a float/sink3 line and a Willie Gunn fly. A classic setup that we know works here at Kengis Bruk.

Shortly after, Jiho hooked into a good fish in the boat pool. Wade deep and cast long, and that he did. After an intense fight his friends could net a 100cm fresh Baltic salmon for him. He fished a bit deeper to get a good steady swing in the fly in the faster water, so with a Float/Sink2-4 line and a Brown fly he was the second one this week to feel the power of a fresh Baltic salmon.

The fishing was at its best, the grill was simmering and the good vibes of Kengis feeling was showing all around.

Then Tommy once more hooked into a decent sized fish and managed to land a 80cm fish from Boat pool and he stuck to his favorite setup with Float/sink 3. What a great start from Tommy.

And this week the boat pool was delivering good fishing. The water level dropping, fresh fish coming in and good fishermen made this week a good one.

Chance was the next one to hook into a 102cm baltic salmon. Great to see him showing the way for his son Oscar.

We usually see Oscar posing with Baltic salmon, but this year he went home with a lot of cast in his arms and a lost fish. Sometimes salmon fishing can be tough, but then it is good to think back on the great memories.

Tommy was not done yet and boat pool still fished good. In the middle of the night he managed to land a good sized fish and he ended an amazing week for him. Great work Tommy.

In the very end Tommy’s fishing partner Janne’s hard work paid off. A little frustrating going hope 3-0 with your fishing buddy, so he kept on casting and finally a 101 cm fish striked his fly and it was in great conditions. The best possible way to end a good week for us and specially for Janne.

Thank you guys for being back at Kengis and see you next year.

Tight lines!
