Week 23 - WOW

Sometimes the stars are aligned.

And they were in the opening week at Kengis Bruk.

We welcomed back our Danish friends for another battle with the big Baltic salmon. And this time things went just like we dream about.

Before telling this story we have to say that this group knows Kengis Bruk really well and have been fishing with us for a long time and weeks like these does not happen that often, but when they do baltic salmon fishing is a dream.

We landed 14 fish the first week and lost 11. And they were big. 95cm average over 14 fish and the lost fish were all in the same category.

The biggest fish landed by Thomas and he has been waiting for this one for years, so finally it happened for him. 112 cm pure silver and in good conditions.

The run of fish was steady, we saw them in the pools and we lost or landed fish in all pools, so we could not ask for a better start of the season.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find words for weeks like these, but when it happens you know why you have put so much time and effort into developing your skills, so you can be ready when it happens. And you see all the tough hours as well when you can have a week like this where the hours give back to you.

Anders, Einer and Thomas all got what they came for with big fish landed. 2 x 108cm and Thomas with his 112cm.

Olivier had a fight of lifetime, but lost it, but he got rewarded in the last hour with a good fish landed and Christian and Ronni kept spirits high and unlucky for them the hooked fish was lost, but that is a part of the battle fighting big baltic salmon.

The last day of the week our very own Kristian & Lars had a great day with four landed fish and a few lost, so this season's start has passed our expectations. What a day for two good friends on a Sunday in Kengis. As Christian said: “This is a good sunday at Kengis”

Now we look forward to the next group and we have to say that the conditions is still looking really good.

Tight lines!
