Until next season

What do we do in the off season? Read about the life between the short and intense salmon season up north!

What happens between our seasons?

Our salmon season is short and intense. When you get close to 1st June you feel the butterflies and the salmon feeling goes from something in your mind to a tingling in your hands when you do the first rounds in the pool and you know every cast could be the one. At the same time we look at the salmon season and think that there is plenty of time to fish, enjoy and spend time by the river.

Then after three months everything is over. We close the lodge and pack down the campsites. And what felt like plenty of time is just gone in what feels like seconds on the last day of the season.

That is how it is working with baltic salmon fishing. Intense, rewarding and you kind of lose the sense of time and place. The off season begins.

First of all we sit down and reflect on the season. What happened? How was the fishing? What did we learn from this season? A lot of these questions are answered in our season recap blog, so check that if you want to know.

Then we start looking at next season. We send a thank you letter to all guests from the 2022 season sharing some thoughts and Kengis feeling and then they all have the chance to book the same spots for the following season. We appreciate very highly that our guests want to come back to us year after year, so before opening for bookings they get the first chance to rebook.

Then it is time to look at the upcoming season and how we can maintain our fishing, lodge and service at the highest possible level. One thing is for sure when you book a trip to Kengis Bruk; We will do our absolute best to make memories together with you. Fishing is fishing and we never know if you hit a dream week or a week where you really have to work hard for the fish. In a way that is what makes a salmon fisher.

We start looking at possible cooperates, that can give our guests a new experience next season. This off season we will continue working with CRUD to offer long lasting quality products for our guests. We will look at our own merchandise and do our best to keep developing our lodge to best the best base for a salmon trip.

We keep telling the story and sharing Kengis feeling on our social media channels in order to inform and interact with our followers, so a lot of the off season time is used on content planning and keeping our followers in the Kengis feeling. We want to have close contact with you guys and be inspired by what you want to know about Kengis Bruk and how we can inform you about our fishing and give tips and tricks that you can use no matter where you are fishing.

The baltic salmon is very important for us, so during off season we are in contact with different authorities to keep us informed about the wellbeing of our fantastic salmon.

And before we know it, the spring is getting close and it’s time to tie the last flies, get the gear ready and everything starts over again.

We are thankful for you support and thank you for following Kengis Bruk.

All the best
