Season opening 2026
And with a blink of an eye the new season has started.
Time flies, but that is good when you look forward to the new salmon season.
We were ready and hoped for the same start as last year!
But let's start from the beginning.
Once again we welcomed the students from Kiruna fishing guide school. They visited Kengis Bruk to get an introduction to the world of fly fishing.
Our good friend Lars took them through all the basics and they were very helpful setting up the camp.
Thank you to Lars and to the students for such a great help.
We were of course ready to swing flies 1/6 and not many casts later Aslak thought he had the best start possible, but it was a Besa Salmon (Overwintered in the river)
But hopes were high and we were ready.
All the local guys came together for some great days on the riverside.
But the days passed and nothing really happened. The water was getting lower, we did not see any fish and all theories were discussed.
I did not help…..
And we were fishing. There was a fly in the water almost 24/7.
It ended up being a little strange opening week for us.
We normally see fish, feel them or get some kind of idea about the season, but we did not get any signs these first days.
But with good friends comes good memories. A lot of local open fire coffee, sausage, local specialities and smiles were shared and the eagerness to get in contact with the first fish of the season was intact when we ended our first fishing days.
Full focus on the first guests to arrive and hopefully they will get to see and feel the power of the Baltic salmon.
Fingers crossed.
