Week 24 - First guests of the season
Once again we welcomed our friends from Denmark.
Some of these guys are closing in on a 10 year anniversary here at Kengis Bruk. That is amazing and what support from these guys!
With high hopes and a bit of logistic problems they all got started and were ready to battle the Baltic salmon and to hopefully land the first fresh fish of the season.
Some missed a plane, some got another plane and some took the drive from Denmark, but all in all they were ready Monday morning.
We knew it was going to be difficult since we did not see that many fish and conditions were a bit difficult but this group knew about salmon fishing and especially baltic salmon fishing.
First days were used to get the casting going, time spent on the riverbank and good stories told.
Last year the guys had a fantastic week and these memories came up again being back on the river.
Such a pleasure to host a group of friends that stay positive in difficult times.
But at the end of the week we saw more fish on the move and we started to see a little action. A few lost fish and the motivation for the end of the week was high.
Thomas fished one of the more tricky places, the most narrow part of the Powerline pool. And there he felt the power of the Baltic salmon. A good fish striked his fly and took a serious run downstream. Thomas did what he could, took a swim and in the end a brake that got stuck kept him away from landing this great fish.
But as a real Baltic salmon fisherman Thomas rigged up and continued and as so many times before; The last cast always matters!
Thomas ended up landing the first fresh fish of the season with a solid fish at 100cm he proved that hard work pays off.
Great work guys and see you back in a year!
Tight lines!
