Week 34 - The annual gathering
Another year and once more a great visit from our Kengis feeling ambassadors from the south of Sweden.
A week with nothing more than smiles, good food, long nights and real Kengis feeling.
The last weeks of the season are always special. We start off everything on the 1st of June and think that the season is long and then it is almost over. It is a strange feeling, but there is no better way to end a good season with good people.
This year Michael, Niclas, Daniel, Anders, Björne and Mathias came to visit us and we hoped for the fishing to pick up in the last weeks of the season.
And the week started out great for Björne. He landed a great fish at zone 1 within the first cast and the week looked really good! And there were high hopes among all fishermen.
This week we once again saw many grilse running in our pools and Anders was the next one to hook into a smaller fish in zone 3. It is good to see so many smaller fish returning to the river and it gives us hopes for the future.
Daniel has had a few difficult years like all others the past season, and the luck was not really on his side this week. A few days in the week he lost a really good fish at the very end of zone 1. You all know the feeling, but you also always remember the fish you lose. That can haunt you for some time. But there is a chance next year again!
In the end of the week we finally had Mathias hooked into a fish and what a feeling for him. His first salmon on fly and we are sure he will remember that moment for many years. That is special!
Just before packing the bags Niclas went down to zone 3 and landed another grilse, so the grilse was active in the last days of this week. It was Niclas´ second fish of the week because he landed his first salmon on fly in the warm up days in Lainio just before arriving to Kengis Bruk. Great job Niclas.
Such a pleasure to host the annual trip for the guys to end the fishing season and plan the next year. Good to be a part of a week with the essence of Baltic salmon fishing and Kengis feeling.
We all ended the week with our shepards pie dinner and we knew we ended another great week at Kengis Bruk.
And last but not least, finally our guide Ville caught not only one, but two fish in a day at Kengis.
What a day for Ville and what a way to end the season for him.
A special week with “first on fly experiences” and new memoires made.
Huge thank you guys. See you next year.
Tight lines!
