Week 24 New fly line?

Why does the shootingline look like this? Well, because you felt the power of a strong baltic salmon. And even though we like to think that we are in control, we are not. When you hook a good size fish that dance starts. Your turn, their turn and you can’t do much more than that accept that sometimes you win and sometimes the salmon wins.

In week 24 we welcomed our friends from Slovakia. Ivan, Peter, Vladimir, Jakub and Jan. Last year Ivan and Peter visited us and fished the north bank and when we got a week open this year they booked right away. We are beyond happy for our guests returning to us for the hunt of the big baltic salmon.

Facing a hard week with low water and little activity the guys jumped in the water and fished hard. We started focusing on the cast and the details around the baltic salmon fly fishing and within the first days all guys fished effectively. It is such a pleasure sharing tips and ticks and the guests listen and convert it into their own style.

Powerline pool was fished more or less 24hrs pr. day and they did all they could to get in contact with the baltic salmon. But weather conditions and water level made it difficult.

When fishing is tough it is all about finding the small things that can hold up your motivation. A good cast, new trick, good times with your friends and maybe even time for a nap once in a while. A guest asked us the first week what the toughts part of the job is, and this is it. We want our guests to have the full Kengis experience with the feeling, atmosphere and of course to hook a baltic salmon, but we can’t control the fishing. But that is a part of the game and the last cast always counts.

At the end of the week we searched for more hydrated water and found the fish. The last few days the group lost more than a handful of fish. But as they said; “Now we know that we can hook the up, now we just need to land them”

When the guests came home from their trip we received a message that showed a real Kengis feeling. “We will for sure come back next year and to fish Kengis in low water, just make it more clear where the fish moves and how it behaves, then we are better prepared for next year”

True Kengis feeling.

Next week is looking like a proper summer week, but also with rain coming in. Let’s hope a weather change can activate the fish.

Tight lines!
