Week 32 - The ending we hoped for?

This week we had better fishing at Kengis Bruk, but the week had more to it and was much more than the salmon caught. It was also about enjoying the days by the river as a group.

Simon got the week off to an eventful start. He landed two smaller salmon and also had contact with two considerably bigger fish. Both were lost, and one of them disappeared during a brief moment when his concentration slipped.

It was a frustrating lesson, but an important one. Salmon fishing often comes down to small details, and the Baltic salmon has a way of reminding us to remain focused until the very last moment. Sometimes, the fish we lose teach us more than the ones we land.

One of the week’s finest moments belonged to Kaisa and Mariusz, a couple who caught a beautiful salmon together. It was a shared achievement and exactly the kind of experience that becomes more valuable because someone is there to share it with. The excitement, teamwork and happiness surrounding the catch captured the spirit of the entire week.

But also Kazimierz, a big fish from zone 1 in the middle of the night stands out. A week with experiences to remember.

The group quickly settled into life at Kengis Bruk and enjoyed a relaxed and memorable week together. There was good company by the river, plenty of conversation and shared excitement whenever somebody felt the pull of a salmon.

The fishing had improved and it looked like the ending of the season we hoped for. Fish were caught, bigger ones were lost, and new lessons were learned. Most importantly, the experiences were shared – and those are often the moments that remain long after the week by the river has ended.

We still cross fingers for a great ending of the season and the fishing keeps on as it is now.

Tight lines!
